- नार्वे का वैज्ञानिक ROALD AMUNDSEN पहला वो इंसान था जिसने दक्षिणी ध्रुव पर पहला कदम रखा था इन्होने ROBERT FALCON SCOTT नामक अंग्रेजी पत्रिका में 14 दिसम्बर 1911 को ये बताया कि एक ओर महाद्वीप है जहां पर उन्होंने नार्वे का झण्डा भी लगाया था |
ROALD AMUNDSEN - पृथ्वी का 70% पानी अंटार्कटिका पर है जो कि बर्फ के रूप मे है ओर इस बर्फ की औसतन मोटाई 1.6 किलोमीटर है |
- अंटार्कटिका पर आज तक सबसे अधिकतम तापमान 58.2°F (14.5°C) रिकॉर्ड किया गया है ओर आज तक का सबसे न्यूनतम तापमान 21 जुलाई 1983 को VOSTOK STATION पर -128.5°F (-89°C) रिकॉर्ड किया गया था |
VOSTOK STATION ON ANTARCTICA - अंटार्कटिका पर दुनिया का सबसे शुष्क स्थान है. इतना ही नहीं पूरी पृथ्वी का सबसे शुष्क स्थान भी यहां पर ही है, जिसे 'Dry Valleys' कहा जाता हैं. यहां पर एक न्यूक्लियर पॉवर स्टेशन भी है जिसका नाम McMurdo Station है ओर यह 1962 में स्थापित किया गया था |

MCMURDO STATION - अगर आपको अंटार्कटिका पर जाना है तो आपको अपने दांत और अपेंडिक्स को निकलवाना पड़ेगा चाहे वो कितने ही स्वस्थ क्यो नही हो क्योकि यहां के स्टेशनो पर सर्जरी की सुविधा उपलब्ध नहीं है इसलिए अगर ठण्ड की वजह से कोई प्रॉब्लम होती है आपकी सर्जरी यहां नहीं हो पायेगी जिससे आपकी जान को खतरा हो सकता है |
- एमिलियो पाल्मा(Emile Marco Palma) पहले शख्स हैं, जो अंटार्कटिका महाद्वीप में पैदा हुए हैं। उनका जन्म 7 जनवरी, 1978 को हुआ था। दरअसल, उनके पिता कैप्टन जॉर्ज एमिलियो, अर्जेंटीना आर्मी के हेड के रूप में वहां तैनात थे। इसी दौरान उनकी पत्नी सिलविया को सात माह का गर्भ था। उन्होंने हवाई जहाज के जरिए पत्नी को इस महाद्वीप पर बुलाया और उनकी डिलीवरी वहीं करवाई। यह अर्जेंटीना द्वारा अंटार्कटिका का एक हिस्सा बनाने का एक प्रयास था |
- अंटार्कटिका महाद्वीप पर दो सीजन होते है छह महीने का दिन होता है जिसमे गर्मी का मौसम रहता है ओर छह महीने की रात होती है जिसमे सर्दी का मौसम रहता है |

- 1959 में बारह देशों ने अंटार्कटिक संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किए, आज तक छियालीस देशों ने इस संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। संधि महाद्वीप पर सैन्य और खनिज खनन गतिविधियों को प्रतिबन्धित करने के साथ वैज्ञानिक अनुसंधान का समर्थन करती है और इस महाद्वीप के पारिस्थितिक क्षेत्र को बचाने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। विभिन्न अनुसंधान उद्देश्यों के साथ वर्तमान में कई देशों के लगभग 4,000 से अधिक वैज्ञानिक विभिन्न प्रयोग कर रहे हैं।
- अंटार्कटिका पर आपको एक भी POLAR BEAR नहीं मिलेगा यह सिर्फ NORTH POLE ARCTIC पर ही मिलते है |
